The Queensland Multicultural Council Inc (QMC) is a voluntary, non-political, non-profit organization.QMC promotes better understanding of the various cultures within our society, and works with other ethnic communities in Queensland to enhance the relationships between these ethnic communities.We also assist state Government in promoting multiculturalism.


Umesh Chandra OAM


Umesh Chandra OAM is highly respected nationally and internationally. He is a founder member and the current president of Queensland Multicultural Council, and serves on the police ethnic advisory group, Lord Mayors Multicultural round table etc. Umesh and Usha have been awarded "2019 Citizen of the year" by Brisbane Lord Mayor during Australia Day awards , He was awarded OAM at 2020 Australia Day Awards.

Janeth Dean OAM

Vice President
Janeth Deen is a tireless community worker who has won many award for her extraordinary work in the multicultural community. She has been award OAM for her tireless work within the multicultural communities 

Aunty Betty McGrady

Aunty Betty McGrady has been associated with Queensland Multicultural Council for a long time in various roles, she has taken on the responsibility of the secretary of Queensland Multicultural Council , she a a highly respected elder representing the first nations people at various levels of Government 


Asti Mardiasmo Povis

Asti is the National research director at PRDnationwide , she is passionate about Queensland Multicultural communities and enjoys attending many multicultural events , she joins QMC as the treasurer
