ABOUT

The Queensland Multicultural Council Inc (QMC) is a voluntary, non-political, non-profit organization.QMC promotes better understanding of the various cultures within our society, and works with other ethnic communities in Queensland to enhance the relationships between these ethnic communities.We also assist state Government in promoting multiculturalism.

Umesh Chandra OAM 
Immediate Past President, Founder, and Life Member
Umesh Chandra OAM is highly respected nationally and internationally. He is a founder member and the current president of the Queensland Multicultural Council and serves on the police ethnic advisory group. Lord Mayors Multicultural round table etc. Umesh and Usha were awarded "2019 Citizen of the year" by Brisbane Lord Mayor during Australia Day awards. He was awarded OAM at the 2020 Australia Day Awards.

Janeth Deen OAM 
President 

Janeth Deen is a tireless community worker who has won many awards for her extraordinary work in the multicultural community. She has been awarded OAM for her untiring work within multicultural communities.

Vice President
Since retiring from Queensland Police Service, Mokhtiar have been involved in various not for profit organization's and is very passionate about providing advocacy services to refugees and new settlers. Mokhtiar is the present President of the Gold Coast Sikh Association.

Biometric Consultant with a passion to serve the community. Active in the Chamber of Commerce, Mental Health Ambassador, former Commonwealth Games Ambassador. Enjoying the role as a grandfather.

Nayda Hernandez  
Secretary
Migrated from Central America in the 1980's to Inala and speaks fluent Spanish. Duties include; Admin, Media, PR, Junior advisor, projects and more.
